The #9 Maserati Racing Car was part of the popular racing series issued by Dinky.
The Maserati was introduced in 1953 as model 23n in a red body and a white tapered band starting at the top of the grille.
The driver was in white and part of the body casting. Some versions also included spun hubs.
In 1954, the model was renumbered to 231 until it was eventually renumbered again to model 206 (the model number 231 continued to be displayed on the baseplate) where it was sold in a blister package with plastic hubs.
The model numbers 23n and 231 were clearly displayed on the baseplate.
Model #23n was issued between 1953-54, Model #231 was issued between 1954-62 and Model 206 was issued between 1962-64.
